Eh, gads, no! by Leah Jean
Eh gads, no, I don't work at the Pentagon! Yuck! If you have ever had to drive there you would know why. I had been there about 10 years ago to attend a few meetings. And the parking is horrible! But then what do you expect from a building that is in D.C.? And the traffic in D.C.? Unless you go to work at about 6:00 in the morning, it will take you a long time to get to work. I used to have season tickets for shows at the Kennedy Center so I would come home from the theater after 10:00 at night. And traffic would still be busy. D.C. is a city that doesn't sleep. And if you have ever been in the Pentagon, you would understand that it is one of the most confusing buildings around. It has circular halls that all look alike! You really have to keep track of room numbers, etc. to figure out where you are going. And, if I remember correctly, the building is rather old and pretty boring looking on the inside. But what do you expect from a building that was put up in record time (something about getting it built before some war or something started?) and designed for military activities? Definitely not very asthetically appealing.
I do work in a govt. building but it is brand new and I even have a desk next to a window. And the parking is absolutely wonderful. Okay, I try to get to work before 7:00 so I don't have to get stuck in heavy traffic. But I can live with that.
And as to my computer faux pas's? Hey, why do you think I gave up being a programmer? :-) [Just kidding!]
