Movies, manipulation, etc. by Jim Deming
|I also notice the subtle advertising messages imbedded in movies. The one I find most objectionable is cigarette smoking.
Sandi and I watched Walk the Line this weekend, the biop about Johnny Cash and June Carter. We thought it was really overrated, but enjoyed the music. Of course, we grew up with the original, and any recreation would pale in comparison.
I also watched The Motorcycle Dairies, about a trip around South America by a young Ernesto "Che" Guevara and his friend. Sandi chose not to watch it because it is in Spanish with English subtitles. It was a good story with excellent scenery and music. I think if I had been in South America in the 1950's, I would have also been a revolutionary.
