Naples, FL by James Deming
|Well, it's been a long day of traveling, but I have made it to my first destination of the week, Naples, Florida. I landed about 6:30, an hour later than planned, and spent 1/2 an hour renting my car as the two attendants at National Rent A Car could not put together two brain hemisphere's between them. Fianlly got my car and arrived in Naples about 8:00. Checked into my hotel and asked the front desk for a good "Local" restaurant reccomendation. He reccomended "Joe's Crab Shack". For those of you who do not know, Joe's is a part of the Landry's seafood chain. I gave up on a reccomendation from the desk clerk, and hopped back into the car and drove to the beach, put 2 quarters in the meter and walked along the white powdery shore that people spend millions to live on. I took a few pictures of course:
After walking along the beach, I drove along main street and found a decent little Italian restautant "BIcE", and had veal stuffed ravioli in a mushroom cream sauce. It was pretty tasty, and only later did I learn it was a chain as well. It is becoming harder and harder to find a "local" restaurant.
After dinner I came back to the hotel for the night. Tomorrow I have a meeting in the morning, and then I'll drive across "Alligator Alley" to Fort Lauderdale for the rest of the week. More later!
