Gamblin Man by James Deming
|Howdy from Tulsa.
We've had a lot of rain here this week and the ground is certainly soggy. Pryor had 8 or 9 inches in a few hours and it did cause some problems in town. Mom and Dad's place is fine, no issues in their neighborhood.
Not much else going on here. I took a business trip to Philadelphia M-W of this week. I had a conference at the Airport Marriott, but was able to grab a train into downtown to check out the sites. I was able to see the Liberty Bell, and Independence Hall. I was not that impressed with the area of town I visited as it was pretty run down just outside of the National Park area with lots of panhandlers. Courtney says I must wear a sign around my neck that attracts them, however this trip I was able to hang on to my change.
Today I drove over to the horse track to wager on "General Quarters" for the Kentucky Derby. I had heard a segment on NPR earlier about the horse and trainer and was just sure that he was a winner. Well, I was wrong, and am now kicking myself as while I was there I almost bet on "Mine That Bird" too just because the 50-1 odds looked a fun bet. Oh well, it was still fun to watch the game with a small amount of skin in the game. Courtney and I are going to see Blues Traveler with some friends tonight at one of the local casinos, so maybe I can win my horse money back from the Creek tribe.
Next week I'll probably be looking for a part time job to make up for my losses this weekend.
Hope all is well with the rest of the family. Let us know what is going on in your life when you have a moment!
