Great reding all these Xmas and New Year notes. We've had nice weather lately, highs in the 70s, lows in the 50s, a bit of rain here and there. Our annual rainfall is about 2 inches and we are ahead a bit. Nick was here for Xmas break , great seeing him and catching up. His first semester at Duke was good but no barn burner , he's getting his bearings. Looks like he has a job here next summer teaching English, the pay is great , $20 an hour tax free. Better than washing dishes at the Crescent. I'm taking Margaret and Thomas to Kenya for a month next summer, not sure if they will come to the US, still working out details.
Since his ticket here is free Nick stopped in Rome on the way back to meet his friend Amy and see southern Italy. His note:
hey guys, i am in napoli now, using the computer in my hostel. i cant write much because this keyboard is the italian type, it takes me forever to type anythiung. i met amy at the collosseum in rome and we left yesterday for napoli. we explored the city that night and this morning we woke up early and hit pompeii. i tink we were the first people there, it was great. weve eaten lots of pizza and sfogliatelle--ricotta filled pastries that are my new favorite food. weather permitting weÓre going to the island of capri, and then down to sicilia on a night train. iÓll email you guys again when i find a place, but just wanted to let you know that im doing fine down here--the weather so far is sunny and cool, but not freezing dad--your 70s jacket has come in real handy at night. i love and miss all of you guys.
Hope Amy is paying the bills...Like Nick says, we love and miss all you guys.
