James by Patricia
|I just wanted to keep the family updated on James. He spent the last week back in the hospital with another UTI and a MERSA infection. I think he takes one step forward and two backwards. I am so saddened to see what Linda, Lisa and Patti are having to go through. Linda has so far to drive and I know that is very trying for her; and Lisa and Patti have always seen their dad so strong and well they have a hard time dealing with this. I just can't imagine how hard it must have been for Katherine having to go off to her new job in Alabama.
He reminds me of a little child (so afraid and alone). He relives so much of his past career (government) he is suspicious of all the caregivers. He always knows all of us, but sometimes gets confused. He took my hands the other night and wanted to be assured that he had been a partner that I could depend on. I told him that I could always count on him being there and he was so relieved that he had supported me. Then I was Patricia again.
I wish I could spend more time with him, but I'm not in a position to go that much. I know Linda tries to come early in the mornings to see the doctors and nurses and to help him with lunch and his girls go after work to help him eat his dinner. I talked to Lisa last night and she said she would keep me posted when she visits him.
Linda, I hope you don't mind my posting on here about James, but I know you are tired after a long day of travel and worry and the last thing you want to do is get on the computer and relive the days. Please know you are all in my prayers.
